How long does it take for a letter to arrive?
We hold each message for a few days before delivering it to the recipient’s real inbox. The delay is the whole point — it gives both sides time to think, write carefully, and look forward to what comes next.
Do I need to install an app or learn a new tool?
No. Dear Patience works with the email you already use. You get an address on our domain, like you@dearpatience.com, and mail sent there is delivered to your real inbox after the holding period. You read and reply the same way you always have.
How do I start a correspondence with someone?
There are a few ways. You can email invite@dearpatience.com with your friend’s real email in the subject line, and we’ll let them know a letter is on the way. You can also share your @dearpatience.com address directly, or send them the sign-up link so they can get an address of their own.
How much does it cost?
Right now, Dear Patience is completely free while we’re getting things off the ground. Down the road we may introduce a paid Patron tier for people who want to send more letters, but a basic tier will always be free. No ads, no tracking, no upsells in the inbox.
What if someone sends me something urgent?
Dear Patience isn’t built for urgent messages. If something truly can’t wait, ask the sender to use your regular email address. Anyone who needs to reach you quickly should have another way to do it.
Is my mail private?
Yes. We hold messages only as long as needed to deliver them, and we don’t read, sell, or share their contents. For the full picture of how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
Can I cancel or delete my account?
Yes, anytime. Email us at support@dearpatience.com and we’ll take care of it. Patrons can cancel their subscription whenever they like — you’ll keep your benefits through the end of the current quarter.
